Configuring your IMAP/SMTP Email Client for ZoEmail

Enabling IMAP will allow you to download your email directly to your mail client
(for example, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Mail.App, Mozilla, etc.)

Important Information:
This information will be the same regardless of which mail client you use.

Both Incoming and Outgoing mail server require a secure connection (SSL).

NOTE: You must still login to the ZoEmail webmail interface to perform Key Management functions such as creating address keys for shopping and business cards, and making changes to existing keys.

 


Setting up ZoEmail with Microsoft Outlook 2003
Step 1
Launch Outlook. Click on Tools and choose E-mail Accounts.

Step 2
Choose Add a new e-mail account and click Next.

Step 3
Choose IMAP and click Next.

Step 4
Configure your e-mail as shown below and click on More Settings.

Step 5
Choose the Outgoing Server tab.
Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

Step 6
Click on the Advanced tab and configure your server ports as shown below. Click OK to continue.

 

Server Port Numbers
Check the boxes next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server.

Incoming Mail Server (IMAP): 993
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): 25

 

Step 7
Click Next.

You are done!
Click Finish. You should now be able to send and receive your ZoEmail messages through Outlook.

Tip: If you intend to use IMAP/SMTP as your primary method of checking email, you might want to set your ZoEmail webmail account to take you directly to your Address Book when you login.

To do this, login at http://www.zoemail.net/mail/
Step 1: Go to the Options screen.
Step 2: Click on Appearance.
Step 3: Use the pull down menu to set Page to Display After Login to Address Book.
Step 4: Click Save Options.

 

Setting up ZoEmail with Outlook Express
Step 1
Launch Outlook Express. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.

Step 2
Click Add and choose Mail...

Step 3
The Outlook Express Internet Connection Wizard will appear. Fill in the information that each screen asks.
Fill in your name. This is the name that will appear in the From: line of your e-mail. You can use your real name or if you prefer an alias, you can place that in this space.

Step 4
This is your ZoEmail e-mail address. *Note: you do not need to use an address key. Just type username@zoemail.net

Step 5
Enter the appropriate server information. The servers for ZoEmail are:
IMAP: postoffice.zoemail.net
SMTP: smtp.zoemail.net

Step 6
Enter your ZoEmail username and password as shown below:
Account Name: username@zoemail.net
Password: (your ZoEmail account password)

Step 7
Click on Finish.

Step 8
Your ZoEmail Account should now be listed in the Internet Accounts screen.
Select your ZoEmail account and click on Properties.

Step 9
Choose the Servers tab. Check the box next to My server requires authentication, then click on Settings.

Step 10
Check to make sure that Use the same settings as my incoming mail server is selected. Click OK.

Step 11
Choose the Advanced tab.

 

Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP) place a check mark in the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL). Make sure the port number listed is 25.

Under Incoming Mail (IMAP) place a check mark in the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL). Make sure the port number listed is 995.

Click OK.

Step 12
In the Internet Accounts screen, click Close.

You are done!
Click the Send/Recv button to download your e-mails. Outlook Express should now be properly configured for IMAP.
